Lessons from the International Wildland Urban Interface Meeting

An annual Wildland Urban Interface Conference is held each March in Reno, NV. I attended the conference, learning a great deal worth sharing with homeowners. I took the two day course, Assessing Wildland Fire Hazards in the Home Ignition Zone, sponsored by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA); qualifying for the NFPA Certificate of Achievement.

I then attended the WUI conference for the next three days and became an Associate Member of the International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC), which sponsored this meeting along with the NFPA and the National Association of State Foresters.

I will share the latest information of interest to the homeowner on this new blog site, which I am creating as an easy to access, current, frequently updated source of information on wildfire protection written specifically for the homeowner. I don’t believe any other such source exists.
